Doula Support is Three-fold
prenatal, labor & birth, postpartum
What does doula support look like?
Doulas like to say that we “hold space” for birth. Amid all the excited family members and bustling medical staff, a doula’s focus is primarily on the parents’ emotional and physical comfort.
I am trained to provide compassion, encouragement, education, and pain relief throughout birth and the days surrounding it. In practical terms, this can mean lots of different things: maintaining a calm atmosphere, talking through interventions, or administering massage. My job is not to make decisions about your care, but provide a sounding board as you work through the decision-making process yourself.
